Hi all,

I'll be driving to Yosemite on Sunday, and will stay there until I get bored.

As for what I can climb, I went to a gym to compare grades with Europe (I'm from Belgium) and didn't have too much problems with any 5.11d or lower that I tried. Did one 5.12b with some hang dogging there as well. Best outdoors redpoint to date is 5.12a/b. I like slabs, not so great at overhangs, since I boulder 95% of the time, so my endurance is a bit lacking.

I've got a 230ft rope, a couple of quickdraws and some other basic sport climbing gear. Haven't climbed trad, but I'm up for it.

I messed up my meniscus during climbing earlier this week, so I guess cracks and routes with hard heelhooks are out of the question now, so no attempt at Separate Reality :(. Would love to have a go at Galactic Hitchhiker.

If anyone wants to partner up, let me know! I'll be checking this forum and my mail regularly. You can also sms/call me at +32 477 25 89 05.

Cheers,
Anthony

Well, I'm free on the 10th? But if you're trying to stay away from cracks in Yosemite, the only options would be bolted slab in Tuolumne (or some sport on Lower Cath rock). Is that what you had in mind? Let me know, I'd love to get some pitches in on Tuesday.

Well, the only thing I had in mind was Separate Reality (no go due to knee) and Galactic Hitchhiker ( mountainproject.com/v/galac…). There seem to be a few sections of crack on GH as well, so I'm not sure if I would be able to do it. Also, GH is so long, we'd have to start climbing it at 5-6 in the morning. I'm not sure if that is an option for you? But really, I'm up for mostly anything.

So, Tuesday's good! When and where do you want to meet?

Well first I don't think I'm up for all of GH. Further, there was some really nasty rock fall a few years back on Galcier Point so not really excited to climb in that area anymore. I think I've got a partner for June 10th. Are you free on the 18th?
Sounds like you're stronger than me, but are you good to go with your knee?? I'm also interested in getting some pitches on the nose, OZ up in Tuolumne.

Not sure about the 18th, I'll probably be out of Yosemite by then and somewhere closer to Zion. If your partner for the 10th bails, just give me a call.

The rockfall doesn't sound too good. I read some section of Glacier Point are more or less fine, but couldn't figure out whether GH lies in this "safe zone".

Anyway, Tuolumne is fine for me as well, so I'd definitely be up for that.

As for the knee, I went climbing today, doing some 5.11b/c and a 5.12a, and didn't feel anything at all at any time, so I'm not too worried about it. The only thing I really don't want to do is foot jams, since I'm pretty sure that will end in disaster for my knee rather quickly.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
