T-wall weather info

I will be headed down to T-wall next week and the forecast is always changing with chances for rain. |

First, you're getting a tad bit out of T-Wall weather due to the fact it is pretty much a south facing cliff with no protection from the sun. Heat and humidity are not your friends around here and you can fry like a bug on the exposed cliff. Other than that, the benefit is that if it does rain and pass most everything will dry if the sun is out. If it down pours . . . . you'll just have to hike up and see what's dry the next day. I don't have as much experience as others, but in the past couple of years I've been surprised by what is and isn't dry, and it doesn't ever appear to be the same climb from one to the next. |

If a serious down poor happens, how long does it take to dry out for some climbing? Last, have there been many car break-ins as of late? Thanks and happy trails, RyanAretes and faces exposed to wind dry the fastest next to routes under roofs that are somewhat shielded....unless they seep. It may only take a few hours with a breeze and sun. Typically, one day without rain is adequate.....although, as mentioned, it is very hot this time of year...read: probably miserable. You should always be vigilant concerning break-ins....whether or not there has been one recently. You are deep in tweaker country. See comments on the TWall page. |

Are you okay with baking like a potato? That's the bigger question. Why not go somewhere with a more shaded aspect? |

I am not opposed to climbing elsewhere. I just really like the cracks at T-wall. Sunset Park is also on the hit list. Any recommendations for this time of year. Also, not opposed to sport climbing but prefer to climb trad. |

T wall weather: Hot as balls |

Me too, I therthat place. I don't know where to chase shade in the Chattanooga area but I'm sure suggestions will be forthcoming. I personally spend the warm summer months at the NRG for the most part, Fern Buttress has some stellar 5.10 splitters that should stay shady. I think. There are also some stupendous splitters at the Red, don't know much about the shade Situation there... |

Sunset is a premiere Spring/Summer spot.... |

I just got back from T-wall/Sunset Park last night, and Sunset is the place to be to beat the heat. T-wall is definitely HOT in the afternoon with few options for shade. On the plus side it dries really quickly. We hiked in to T-wall for some night climbing (always a good summer option) and got caught in a thunderstorm. The next morning, early, everything was dry. |

Thanks for the replies. My climbing buddy has not been to T-wall so one day or 1/2 day will probably be spent there. We definitely will climb at sunset park. Also, thanks on the advice Ikmortu regarding locals places to eat. |
