I left the bag too long unattended obviously last Saturday at Garden of the Gods and someone thought it was forgotten. No, we were having a memorial service and I was attending that. But the reasons for leaving the blue Ikea bag with the worn out 60m rope I used to climb on with a dear partner I no longer hear from are not important.
What is important is that I don't want any of those things back.
The Boreal Aces? I was given them by a friend who no longer wanted them. If you have climbed in Aces you'll probably know why. They are insensitive, awkward shoes compared to what I usually use, Mocasyms. I've never liked them.
The rope? I just brought it to be able to rap off Montezuma Tower, which as you may know requires a 70m or two ropes. I will now finally go buy another 70. The rope is so worn, fuzzy, and just plain used up that I don't like climbing with it.
The Ikea "rope bag?" I read in Climbing that this was not cool to own. I can now rest easy that I no longer have one.
I hope it is not sitting in some lost and found area at the Visitors Center, but I'll check just to make sure it isn't wasting space.
