Fox Pee to Discourage Marmot/Pikas?

Has anyone ever tried using fox scent around their bag to keep marmots and pikas away from your gear while on a route? If so, did you notice any mountain lions stalking you or circling your gear after your summit attempt? I've had pikas chew through my friend's tent in the Tetons. I'm planning a trip to Rocky Mountain National park and I hear there is a marmot problem at The Gash.

I bought Coyote urine years ago to sprinkle on my lawn near Downtown Denver. I had just laid sod in my lawn and every night this huge racoon would roll back the sod and eat insects underneath which was hard to believe, with all the other crap around here near the dumpsters in the alley why it would go after my sod was a mystery. I was assured the urine would fix the problem so I sprinkled it all over the sod. I waited that night to watch this giant racoon roll up my sod right where I had put the urine. Fail! Chasing it around my backyard with a broom a couple of nights finally convinced it to move on. Its damn hard to catch up with a racoon BTW, even in a confined space.

I used the remainder I had ( dried piss is not cheap ) on a mountaineering trip near Aspen to keep porcupines from eating the underside of my friends car. The car was untouched but I doubt it had much to do with the urine.

In these bivy areas pikas and marmots have gotten used to people, I doubt they will worry too much about some fox urine.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
