ATTENTION: Climbers, outdoor enthusiasts, and the generally unemployed or underpaid. The non-profit company I work for, Project Challenge NC INC is seeking a wilderness guide to co-lead 3 backpacking trips a month for adjudicated youth. The trips leave friday afternoon and return on sunday around 10am, so they are very short. You bill for 40 hours for each trip plus an additional 40 for the 4th week per month for some minor paperwork and gear set-up repair and maintenance. The ratio with the kids is 3 to 1 adult and often less than that. The activities in the colder months are generally backpacking and fishing with wilderness skills and teamwork activities. In the summer the saturday is spent white water rafting and zip-lining. The main guide is a white water professional and he would like to expand the program to include a climbing portion for the colder months. Experience working with kids and guiding climbing (certifications a bonus) and some river experience would be preferred. The trip locations vary but generally branch out from Asheville, NC since the main guy is from there. The job includes health benefits and paid vacation as well as a competitive and generous wage. If you are interested message me. I will do the first screening then pass you along to the man doing the hiring. Thanks for reading this and look up the website for more info projectchallenge.org . Click on Trips to see info on the Wilderness component.
