Self-rescue clinic

[At the risk of over-guiding...]

I'd like to offer a small self-rescue clinic or two in the next month.
~6-8 hour day
-preference for a week day rather than a weekend (marginal weather = even better)
-maximum 6 participants per clinic
-in Eldo at Supremacy or the Whale's Tail
-$50/participant (cheap!)

You would spend the day practicing:
-several knots
-belay escape
-raising systems (overview)
-lowering
-counterbalance descent
-ascending
-station transfer to tandem rappel

PM me if you want to set it up.

We are offering Rock Rescue Clinics all summer if you're interested in advancing your skills with one of the country's most experienced guides and climbing instructors.

Did you just hijack his thread to promote yourself? Lame.

Excuse me? Gregger Man/Eldo Prancer is a guide who is promoting his services for a fee. I am doing the same so how is this lame or a "hijack".

With the $8/person/day that Eldo charges permittees for commercial activities plus the cost of the $1,000,000 insurance policy required to hold that permit (plus his amga credentials), it seems like the Prancer must be into working at a loss of income or free which is a strange way to run a business?

That sounds awesome and at that rate - almost a public service!

Don't rag on Eli.
The more, the merrier.
Reminding climbers to get the rust off their skills each season is more important than commerce.

+1 to that! A big thanks to ALL the guides out there!

I think the miserable weather over here in Vietnam is affecting my mood. ;-)

Just out of curiosity, what are the regs for guiding at Eldo? Or any other CO state park? (Presumably the same for all parks?)

One slot left for May 16th.
Might do an indoor version of the course for folks that want a weekend day on the 17th or 24th.

I am curious. Do you have a permit for this? And what is your training?

It is a great idea to teach these skills. Very needed.

I will let gregger list of his long list of credentials. But he is one of the best around to show you around Eldo. And Im guessing his AMGA certs mean he knows a thing or two.

Right on you eldo prancer, this sounds like a seriously good deal for some seriously important skills. All climbers(besides boulderers) should know and practice the things being covered here.

I'm not acquainted with Gregger Man, but Eli Helmuth is an IFMGA guide, certified in all three disciplines (rock, alpine, and ski) and is one of the top SPI providers in the US. He's been a mentor to me and is a blast to be out with. Definitely NOT to take anything away from "Gregger Man"--if he's offering a legit self-rescue clinic, I'm sure it'd be informative and a great idea for anybody who's into climbing!

The climbing ranger from Eldo is a regular on these forums if you doubt Gregger Man's legitimacy. I took an aid climbing clinic from him about 5 years ago, I had a blast and I am still alive. Sure seemed like he knew what he was doing.

This would be awesome practice, and $50 is an amazing price. If you do this again, be sure to post up! (I can't make the 16th).

Climbing in Vegas now. 16th is full. Planning to possibly do an indoor version on the 24th. 4 interested in that one so far.

Regarding permits/insurance/my business:
I joined the Certified Guides Cooperative. The cost of the permit and insurance are shared among the guides in the coop and applicable/(& paid) on a per diem basis. The overhead for this sort of part-time guiding is thus quite low.

Hope you will do more!
