Recently on MP, when I open up a thread a video advertisement pops up. This only happens sometimes, but is extremely annoying. I understand that these types up ads bring in revenue that support this really useful and fun site, but I just wanted to express my deep annoyance for such imposing vid ads.

This is not supposed to happen. Please take a screenshot so I can see who it is and we'll get it removed. Or click the ad and tell me what URL you end up on. Thanks.

My mistake, it is the golf banner. The video triggers if you hover over the banner. I was inadvertently hovering and starting the vid. Sorry and thanks

Those ads are bloody intrusive. Invariably your mouse runs over them and they pop up and blast at you. If they weren't so hair triggerish it wouldn't be so bad.

I don't want to block all the adds, just the ones that explode onto my screen. MP has to make money somehow, so it helps to click on an ad here or there, which I make a point of doing.

From the addblock plus website: The free adblock tool for Chrome: Blocks annoying video ads on YouTube, Facebook ads, banners and much more. Adblock Plus blocks all annoying ads, and supports websites by not blocking unobtrusive ads by default (configurable). Enjoy surfing the web without obtrusive ads cluttering your screen! Adblock Plus for Google Chrome blocks: · Banners · YouTube video ads · Facebook advertisements · Pop-ups · All other obtrusive ads

Its a bummer that it blocks CAIC web content though.

I just loaded adblockplus, and it is nice, but it is a bit more aggressive than I want (have to play with the settings maybe). We are going to have to pay subscription fees if we block all the ads. I am also missing useful climbing related ones.

John Marsella wrote:you can remove blocking rules by clicking the stop sign in the bottom corner and searching for the domain you want to actually see, then there's a disable option. I'm glad you mentioned this! I was manually disabling adblock every time I wanted to view the zone forecasts for CAIC, this works much better, thanks.
