Salewa Pro Guide or Sportiva Nepal

Now that the season is out and boots are cheap...I'm looking to buy... I was looking at the Salewa Pro Guide, and I feel like the heel cup fits my foot a little better. Are the Sportiva Nepals warmer? I am looking for mostly vertical ice climbing. I have tried both on, and climbed in the Nepal.

I also know the Cube is coming out this year.

Let me know if you have any deciding info. Right now, leaning toward Salewa.

Thanks!

Made this decision and went with the pro guide. They are warmer, fit my heel far better, and they come from a pretty innovative company.

Also rated higher than the Nepals

Haven`t climbed in the Pro Guide, love my Nepals, they climb way harder than me. That said, the Salewas likely would too. If they fit better than rock them. I have heard of some issues (on MP) with the lock system, but if the Nepals hiked better, I'd be psyched.

Never been real cold in my boots, but I rarely overheat in them, or climb in super cold temps.

Hate to tell ya, but that comparison is worthless, given there's everything there from a three-season 3/4 shank boot to a double-boot.

Vertical ice, but where? What temps? What grades?

Presumably you are just starting out, as you don't already have a pair of boots. Buy what fits your feet best, you'll be happiest in the long run. Pretty much everybody makes a great boot these days, hard to find faults with anything out there. Warmth, stiffness, fit, price are where the differences mainly lie.

If ya took the time to actually read it you'd notice they compare the pro guides directly to the nepals

They keep each boot type in its own catagory too.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
