Monster Tower- Driving advice

Just wondering if anyone has done the drive more than one way. Is it worth is to go down Potash Rd? Will this save any time? I have 4x4 with decent clearance.

I think this has been discussed before. But, I'm unable to find it.

it's been a while, but IIRC the total time is fairly similar but the potash road is more time on rougher road and less time on pavement(?). i usually drive in on potash and out on that steep switchback road, i think shaefer(?).

I've only made the approach once via Potash Road. I don't remember it being very difficult with my stock 4Runner. There were some slow parts but nothing too burly.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you if taking Potash is faster. I would guess it's more fun than taking the highway around to the park.

I have done both Greg, coming down the hill vs Potash is about 20-30 min faster each way.

I went down the Shafer trail, took about 3 hours from Moab to get to Monster tower. I would take this route mainly because I hear both ways are the same distance time wise, plus the view of the white rim at the top of the switch backs is pretty killer.

Shaffer and Mineral Bottom roads are fun at night. So it depends on the time you are driving. Shaffer can take some time to dry so one can do siding when one may not want to.

It's undoubtedly faster to go down the switchbacks from I.Sky. I've done it both ways and it seemed like it added an hour of driving to come in from the Potash road, it also had the roughest section of road of the whole drive as you near the junction with the Shafer Trail. Either way you go about it, it's a long, slow drive. Bring beer.

Do not whatever you do forget the beer. That is one long drive out without suds.

Hey, Greg. I am just wondering what route you plan on doing. I am choosing between the Kor Route and the North Ridge. My biggest concern is the rock quality on each route.
