East Coaster To Bishop

Hello,

I am from Vermont and am coming to California for the first time in late June and into July. I am primarily coming to hike the John Muir Trail, and figured that since I am right there why not jump over to Bishop.

My question is: What will the weather/conditions be like in Bishop in July? Is it too hot to boulder? Are there other places nearby where I could go bouldering if not Bishop? Thanks for helping an east coaster get oriented.

Bishop is likely to be hot during the day, as in 90s to low 100s, with an occasional t-storm. You can still boulder in the evenings around town (e.g. Buttermilks, which will be cooler than the Tablelands), but it will be warm.

Some higher elevation options within ~1.5 hrs:

You can do early morning goes at the buttermilks, if you're stoked on ropes there are a lot more, better options.

This. Or tuolumne.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
