"Law" of Reverse Effect - useful tool to be aware of?

If I stop trying to understand the "law" of reverse effect, will I then understand it?

I was about ready to add that sometimes you have to let go to hang on. In my mind, that instantly turned into hang on loosely, loosely hang on.

So there you go.

This happens to me especially on boulder problems. When I really want to send but keep failing on tricky sections it's often because part of my mind is focused on the rest of the moves rather than the move at hand. When I give up trying to send then I can relax and focus just on the move at hand.

Most of my hardest sends (ok not that hard for you strong climbers) have come directly after saying "I don't know if I'll ever get this problem". The top outs on these are usually not very smooth because I'm so surprised to have gotten through the sequence that I forget the beta. Climbing is funny stuff. :-)

The only law in climbing is gravity.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
