I have been a Petzl crampon guy for years, M10, Lynx.... been climbing all season on my Lynx (Mono) and today I strapped on my sportiva mega ice fruit boots (since it was so warm out) and Wow! I haven't really used them on pure Ice before, the Grivel crampons feel way more secure and stable than my Petzl... The Rambo 4's seem to resemble the crampons on my fruit boots... does this make sens? should I expect the same feel out of the Rambo's than the one's on my Mega's?

They felt more secure because they're fruit boots (lighter & stiffer than normal boots), not because of a different crampon manufacturer.

However - the Rambo IV is a very stable crampon due to the extra "half" frontpoints and splayed secondary points. It's one of the best pure ice crampons ever.

Speaking of Rambo, which Rambo flick was it that Co Bao said-Lambo, You expendable. Was it Rambo 2 or 3.

totally agreee,,I love my 4's, and they have as many as 5 points up front that can get a purchase on the ice with my mono points,,just wish the front point was maybe a half inch longer to start with. Converted to the Rambos 4 years or so ago from my 1st gen. solid frame footfangs which I never had a complaint about either.

funny that i posted this msg, i went out again today and snapped my secondary point clean off! anyone know if Grivel is gonna warranty this? Or Who still have some of the bolt on's left in stock for sale?

Contact them. Actually, in North America, I think Liberty Mountain is the distributor who handle warranty issues.

If I had to guess, they probably won't give you a new boot, but they might replace the actual crampon (remove the bolts, take off the crampon, send it in, and they'll send you a new bolt on front assembly).

I totally agree....what a grip they give, and hardly have to sharpen them up at all(I don't do rock/mixed with them)..they are marvelous.

"what mean expendable rambo?"
"uh, sniff, uh, its like uh, a party that uh youre invited to and you uh dont show up... it doesnt really matter"
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
