Crushed my left big toe many years ago..Never got it fixed but maybe i should have. It's bigger than the right one and really screws me up.

Is it a bone spur or more of a calcification from arthritis ?

I don't know what you mean when you say first knuckle, but your big toe needs to be able to extend ~65 degrees at the MTP joint for normal gait. If it doesn't you'll probably find yourself walking with your toes pointed out. This may lead to any variety of overuse injury from plantar fasciitis to meniscus tears to hip problems.

Wondering if anyone else has this issue, got great insurance and could ask a doctor, but if anyone knows fucked up feet, it's climbers. Other than my evil edging abilities, anyone see anything really good/bad about this?
I have small spurs on the top of each of my big toes from wearing too tight shoes. They don't inhibit joint motion at all, but if they got too much bigger, I think jamming them in cracks would be excruciating.
