What company did you use for your trip? I used Zara in Africa through a company called Kilimanjaro Adventures here in the states out of Chicago... Bad idea theres way cheaper ways to go about it.

My trip will be October of 2014 with Ultimate Kilimanjaro, also based in Chicago. It's interesting...they recommend the Asolo TPS GV Hiking Boots, but reviewers on REI.com kept saying that the soles fall off. I'm going with the Keen Summit County III. Ultimate Kilimanjaro seems very professional.

Im planning a climb in September this year. You said you booked with a company here in the states but there are cheaper ways to do it, are you referring to hiring a guiding service when you get into country? This is what ive been planning on doing. Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions?
