i guess spray paint on rocks is cool now

The background of the poster is spray painted heart on a boulder. It pisses me off to see climbing being directly related to graffiti. As climbers shouldn't we try to discourage graffiti? Wtf? |
|
have to admit, you kinda have a point |

There's something about college that makes bad ideas seem plausible. |

Double check. Speed holster for my rattle can so I can pause mid crux to "tag one for my homies." Gawd help us... |

I don't really see a problem with it. It's like beacon for climbers to bring thier chicks up there and bang them, and toss the Long Island white fish over the edge post coitus. Imagine bringing a black light up there after one season of that. Better be glad i didn't go there, that little area would glow like freakin' supernova. |

It really is a bad photo choice. |

^^^ Carousel at Santee, no? Funny, I revisited that boulder for the first time in probably ten years just a few weeks ago. It really saddens me to see how much graffitti has popped up at Santee. I'm pretty sure it's the local high school kids/gang punks that are doing it though. |
|
Sent thank you for doing that. |

No self respecting artist would do that so it's not graffiti.. it's BS! All artwork put up outside should be on governmemt and commercial property. |
|
Just got this from Sender One.... |

Besides guys, NOBODY likes a rat, you can't prove who painted the rock anyway. Maybe some of you need to leave your panties back at home in the drawer. |

I think some of are missing the point. While climbers are in general not taggers we are in the areas that get tagged, have illegal camp fires, litter, etc. As such, to the lay person we are the taggers, have illegal camp fires, litter, etc. So it becomes guilt by association. So the usage of the graffiti tagged crag in the poster just condones the practice. Myself and friends have caught taggers and made some efforts to educate them on the damage they are doing. Some get it, some do not, some do not care. |
|
The graffiti in that poster looks like chalk, not spray paint. |
|
I live near city where stores can't sell spray paint to kids(gang tagging problems starts turf wars). Too bad it can't be illegal to enter backcountry or private climbing areas with a can of spray paint in your pack. Ban them, have big fines if caught, and take away their climbing or bouldering gear too. |

Graffiti is garbage and so are the people who do it whether it's on a bridge or boulder. |
|
lol, whatever dude. chalk and bolts are graffiti too, if you aren't into climbing. |
