You farmed some ice on a silo outside Chicago. You charge people money. You probably have fun. We get it.

I follow this topic because I live in Chicago, and want to know when the upcoming ice climbing opportunities are, similar to how I follow the Colorado ice conditions topic, since I travel to CO often and want to know what the upcoming ice climbing opportunities are.

I don't follow this topic to learn that someone in CO doesn't care when upcoming Chicago area ice climbing opportunities are. I don't post in the CO topics when I don't want to climb. It's called the Midwest board for a reason. Please don't spam our board with what you "get". When I get an email that someone has replied to this thread, I expect it to be about climbing ice. Please get that.

No, let's call this the 'Valentines Day full moon outing'. Bring your date out for a fun romantic evening under the full moon, with clear skies, 'warmer' temps in the 20's for once, some climbing fun and food, romantic music playing, and even some wicked ice climbs if you choose. Don't wait for Friday the 14th , surprise her and do it tonight!!

It's one thing to strap sharp objects to all 4 extremities and whack around at vertical ice in the midwestern darkness, but the intense suffering caused by an unwanted email is unbearable. Please, let there be an online support group!

If this is a commercial operation, maybe Juggler should kick in for an ad on MP?

Are you sure this is "your board"?

Still goes to the front page.

I think your implementation of ice farming looks great and I'm sure folks enjoy it.
But you must expect to get some grief with 7 pages basically just promoting your business?

As far as I've been told, it's not a 'business', it's a club per se, of local interested climbers who enjoy ice, and fork over a couple bucks to help defray expenses of putting this all together for the season, and often supplying gear for first timers from our own supply. Last weekend's "Ice Fest", our first attempt, cost at least 150 bucks to get the whole driveway and some parking plowed out for guests. It's wind swept farm area, off a back road that is gravel full of potholes. Nobody making a profit here so far this season. Kinda like the old 'Ice pit' membership where those private members kept the place in shape, plowed lots, and operating for several years.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
