New Mountain Hotel / Hostel launching this November in Breckenridge called The Bivvi

Hi guys and girls,
We are launching a new hotel & hostel concept in Breckenridge called The Bivvi. After over a decade of day tripping to the mountains on I-70, we realized that there is a huge disconnect between ski town lodging industry and the real skiers/riders. So we developed a new style of lodge that really caters more to outdoor enthusiasts and the front range population.

The reason I am posting is because we are building our tables from dead beetle kill pine and thought it would be fun to craft coat racks out of used biners. I don't quite have enough on my own for all the racks but I was hoping someone on here might have a few old biners they would donate to the cause. (The Bivvi will be serving some tasty drafts, so a few beers on me). Shoot me an email at worthymccormick@gmail.com if you have some biners that you dont mind parting with or you want more information on The Bivvi. Have a good one.

Help out some climber(s) and check the "For sale" section on this site. Almost always some cheap biners to be had there somewhere.

Ebay is another option.

Just stayed here the other night for 2 nights. Such an amazing spot. Id recommend it to anyone and can't wait to go back. It's a really cool concept because most of us just need a bed to crash in for the night and not a big fancy hotel room. And Worthy is one of the coolest nicest guys I've met. I've never felt so much hospitality from anyone.

WTF!? $45/person/night in a 6-person dorm!!???
Most expensive "hostel" I've ever seen! Even for just 2 people, that's not any cheaper than a hotel.

" $45/person/night in a 6-person dorm!!???".

That's expensive!

$45 includes a huge breakfast and the average rate of a hotel is $250 in Breck. It is the cheapest option by far.

It looks really nice, but I agree that you might want to consider dropping the price a bit if you really want to appeal to the clientele you're targeting. For me personally, I would likely be with the wife and $90 for shared accommodation is not that appealing. I'd either choose to make it a day trip and drive home, or pay more for a hotel. I did the hostel thing a lot when I was young, and the snoring and general inconvenience of having strangers with different priorities in your space gets old quick.

What would you consider a fair price?

I think the price is about right if I was to guess without seeing the posted price I would say 30 to 40.

Although, there should be a discount if you get stuck on the third / top bunk....or a least a belay or spot while climbing up there :)

Looks like a quality place dude - I'd pay it to stay there...

Looks nice. I'll send you some beaners, and have some other old climbing gear stuff I"ve been holding onto for an art project. Just let me know, I'll email you as well.

Oh, and maybe connect with The Wanderlust in Gunnison. Another climber/skier friendly hostel.

peace up!

the hostel in moab is ten bucks a night during the busy season, seven during the off season.

of course, this place looks a tiny bit nicer than the one in moab.

Thanks a lot for the beaners. We actually just talked to the girls at Wanderlust the other day. They seem like super nice people. Definitely going to have to make it down there on a big storm. Yes, $45 is high for a "hostel" but we are much more than that. We are probably the only hostel to have a big outdoor fire pit overlooking the Ten Mile Range / Breckenridge, a big 10 person hot tub, and an all you can eat breakfast buffet with eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, homemade granola, and other tasty foods. Oh yes, and we also have a delicious Dillon Dam IPA on tap... Little different than you typical hostel, but people have been enjoying it and we have a great time meeting everyone that comes through.

We also have private hotel-style rooms for $139 weekdays / $149 weekends. All of those rates include breakfast as well.

Thanks for the support. If you guys ever have any questions, shoot me an email at worthy@thebivvi.com. You can also check out our site at :

Worthy - your pricing is fine dude

Your place sounds and looks bad ass

Peeps here are trying to compare you to a $10 a night/bring your own granola bars/bring your own bag and sleeping pad/no hot tub/PBR's on sale/dirtbag kinda place and that's clearly not what you are...

FWIW I like this as well:

"The Bivvi does allow dogs on a case-by-case basis. Meaning it is at the sole discretion of The Bivvi staff to accept or reject any dog. Dogs are not allowed in the dorm room. We only have one dog-friendly room, which is sold on a first come, first serve basis. There is a $30 cleaning fee for all dogs. Any rambuncious dogs left in the room unattended will be set free!"

If there were a lot of dogs around that would be a deal breaker for me...

Hah. We do love our four legged friends and do not want to discriminate. There are tons of people who want to stay and wake up early to hike quandary with their pup. So we have one dog friendly room (not dorm) and do not allow them to hang out in the common areas.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
