Cyborg Vs. Stinger

I currently own the BD sabertooth's and they have worked great for me so far. I have used them for gully climbs on Mt. Washington and leading up to WI3+ in the Daks. I am making the jump to more challenging vertical climbs this season and was thinking about getting either the BD Cyborg or BD Stinger for an upgrade.

When I contacted BD they said the cyborg would be really similar to the sabertooth and they recommend going with the stinger. Can anyone agree or argue with sabertooth's being pretty similar to the Cyborg? I was hoping to get some opinions from people on how the Cyborg and Stinger have performed for them and recommendations on which pair to go with, or do I just keep my sabertooth's? Thanks a bunch.

get the stingers and keep your sabertooths. use the stingers for cragging but have the sabertooths in case you go to AK or something. Personally I only use cyborgs in a mono configuration. When the secondary points wear down to nothing I'll get stingers (if I decide to stick with BD). There really isn't any appreciable difference between the cyborgs in mono and the stingers. The stingers are a little bit lighter and have a different point configuration under the arch that is not going to make or break your WI6 send.

also, monos are a lot nicer when climbing ice, especially when it gets steep. you can almost do drop knees and more rock like moves when climbing groves to get rests. Monos are going to feel a lot different than sabertooths...

Yeah, the stingers rule. I have had a few pair.
Not much difference between the models.

I think the only advantage to buying the cyborg is that it comes with two points.
As soon as you get them, switch it to mono, and you have a spare pare of points.

The stinger does not come with extra replacements. You would have to buy them.

Stingers allow the use of the abs plate in mono. Cyborgs you have to do some mods to use the abs plates in mono point. This can be handy if you are snow slogging between climbing. I've climbed in Cyborgs and Stingers and prefer the feel of the Stinger. Never tried the Sabretooth.

the one time mod to the antibot plate takes all of 15 seconds with a x-acto knife, not a disadvantage. The extra set of frontpoints is a huge advantage in comparison. BTW, where can you order new front points? both of my sets are pretty trashed.

It sounds like the Stinger is the way to go, thanks for all the advice and view points. Cheers.

Well I just thought I would point it out. Plus not everyone wants to take an exacto knife to their pons. Stingers are 5oz lighter per pair and also have those nifty secondary points on both sides of the front point. These are just differences I'm pointing out. I think they are advantages.

You can get front points direct from BD or from most high end gear shops.

I would try monopoints first before you drop a couple bucks on those stingers. Some don't like monos and prefer to stick with dual points. You have a choice with the Cyborgs.
