I'm visiting my family in AZ in early-mid February next year and am starting to research where to spend 2 weeks climbing. I've focused all of my searches on Utah, AZ, NM, Hueco, and Mexico, but just found out about Shelf Road. Since I don't want to go to just one area for 2 straight weeks in Feb., are there other places I could visit in CO and have an enjoyable (sunny and warm) time? I would say, if it's less than 55 and not exposed to sunlight it's a no-go.

Penitente in the Central part of the state; volcanic rock
Castlewood Canyon between Denver and Colorado Springs; conglomerate
Puoux east of Glenwood Springs on I-70 on Mississippian limestone
There are several crags in New Mexico with south facing walls like Socorro south of Albuquerque (volcanic rock) and Sugarite Park east of Raton near the Colorado-NM border.

If it's sunny and no wind all these areas can be warm on the south facing walls. I've been to Castlewood and Puoux climbing in T shirts when it was 20 degrees everywhere else.

Well as far as Colorado goes Shelf is definitely your best bet for warm weather during February. If you really want to get out of town though it's only a little over an hour to Colorado springs which usually has relatively mild winters and you could easily find yourself in some 60 degree sunny weather anytime of the year. Garden of the Gods is a stunning place to climb mostly trad but unforgettable lines. Red rock canyon open space is great for single pitch sport routes, Cheyenne canyon has great longer granite climbing as well. The Front range averages more sunny days then southern California so even in winter you will get a good amount of 50-60 degree weather. That being said you could also come during a week of snow and cold at that time of the year so I wouldn't necessarily bet on it.

Cheyenne Canon is closed right now due to the recent flooding. It may be open by then. Red Rock Open Space is ok. It's all sport, with 2 "trad" climbs. Not a destination spot like shelf or the Garden though.
Have a good trip
