Anyone done it and willing to talk about it? If only there for a day trip and park at Longs TH what are the chances of getting a ticket? No rangers driving around I'm assuming, so are police patrolling?

It's your park. Use it.

Let's not get all Tea Party up in here.

To the OP, I don't have any personal accounts but there's been many posts on 14ers.com related to Long's Peak access. Perhaps take a look over there.

Just DON'T do it.

There are absolutely ways to do it without much trouble at all. It doesn't take long after looking at a map or two to find avenues for approach. Just be damn sure you won't need a rescue because they will probably take you directly to jail after they rescue you and fine you the maximum amount allowed by law.

There are most definitely rangers on patrol. I was working in the park over the last two days winterizing some electronic equipment we have up there. It was a big deal just to let us in (we even have an NPS key), and we were stopped multiple times and questioned about our doings. It was much worse today with the peaceful protest that was supposed to have happened at the main gate. Rangers everywhere.

Use your best judgement.

Climbers Describe Yosemite Post-Shutdown

Rocky Mountain has a lot of easy access compared to Yosemite.

I was in RMNP immediately after the shut down and for a few days they had rangers posted everywhere turning people around.
