72(peak to peak) to 7 is the only way in or out. Just cruised up here tonight for a wedding tomorrow. Beautiful drive and no where near as long of a commute as I thought it was going to be. Turning leaves + fresh snow=kick ass Colorado senery

A significant chunk of 34 is completely gone. Not damaged. Gone. 17miles I believe. Gonna be a while.

yea 85% of the road from loveland to estes is considered "total loss". theres maybe a couple miles of sound road left in the whole 29 miles. Head south or north!

CDOT is trying to get 34 and 36 reopened by Dec 1, some stretches may remain unpaved.

I was on a media tour of the work they are doing on Hwy 34 last week. They have got quite a bit done. Actually about 3/4 of the work is done. The problem is the final 25%, they are having to completely rebuild the road through The Narrows section -- a 2-mile stretch. In many areas, they had to re-channel the river because it jumped and was flowing where the road used to be.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
