Howdy: I'm finally getting close to having a scope of work laid out, and need to start marshaling resources. The trails here need volunteers. Weekday volunteering is especially desired. If you'd like to volunteer for trail work, PM or drop me a line at mike.mchugh@state.co.us. Nota bene: 1) Your gym membership will seem like a complete, utter waste of money after a day spent hauling rocks. 2) If you volunteer enough, I might tell you the # to rock and resole.

Thanks for all the responses so far! In the next few days, I'll send out some official State paperwork and a questionnaire. In case you're curious: One of the worst hit areas is the very bottom of the West Ridge trail - the connection from the streamside boulder to the bottom of the hill is just gone. We'll start small teams there, bigger teams rebuilding stuff like the bottom of the Eldorado Canyon trail.

If you've PM'ed or e-mailed me and haven't received a response, make sure and check your spam folders. I usually bcc group e-mails. This week is looking good - we've got a big group Wednesday and right-sized small groups for Thursday and Friday.

Some bad news, but it's good news. Or vice-versa. Much faster than expected, crews have started working on the road through Eldorado Canyon. Working. Unfortunately, there is a lot of heavy equipment, tools, and materials being staged in the main parking lot and traveling up and down the road Simply - the park is not safe for visitors, volunteers, or rescuers. When the park reopens, I'll revive this thread to see if anybody would like to take time off from climbing to volunteer.

A brief status update. Park still not open. Still purdy. Crews are still working on the power, gas, and road slides. At the Bastille retaining wall, a crew is putting in "mini-piles". When their equipment is working, the road is impassable. It's cool to watch, but there's a lot of work to be done. Mini-pile. Further up the road, the Excel crew is re-coating and re-burying the pipeline. And still further up the road, a crew is retrieving material to rebuild the big road slide as soon as the gas line crew is done. Rocks. As volunteer wrangler/trail dork/head janitor, I won't run volunteer events until some things are resolved. - The power line is still hanging unsecured over the creek in a few places. I'm not comfortable running a highline across the creek to fly in material, and not comfortable asking RMR to do the same if there's an accident.
- The gas line is still exposed.
- There's lots of heavy equipment moving on the roads and in the parking lot.
