Climbing Tights

A serious question here so please answer first - then flame and laugh second. I am an old fart and like compression on my old legs, sometimes I think it's the only thing that holds my old knees together. I wear regular shorts over them. Something between a lycra tight like for running or track and field and a heavy long underwear weight used in cold weather. Kind of in the middle weight and maybe of a better wearing material than the light weight stuff and not as warm as the stretchy fleeces. Anyone know of a product that meets that? I have a pair of the old Metolius tights that fit the bill just fine if anyone remembers those - but they are worn out now and I'm looking for a replacement.

Locker - if you look like that you can wear anything you want anyplace you want. But do you have a real answer to the question? :)

Thanks for the picture of the girl anyway - other wise not much help.

Thanks - something like this looks promising. With a pair of regular shorts over them or regular pants if its colder - I will only look marginally stupid. But I can live with that if my legs don't hurt so much. I just need to call and see how warm and how tough the fabric is.

At age 65 now I am just glad to still be out on the rocks - my appearance doesn't matter much anymore. If I can't climb well - maybe I can provide comic relief anyway. :)

Locker - you're 58 it says and still there as well, congrats to you as well. We'll just keep on trying is all. There's a saying I like I will share with you and other old farts.

Courage doesn't always roar - sometimes its just that quiet voice at the end of the day that says "I will try again tomorrow"

Chris,

CW-X makes pants that could help.
They also warm and cold weather models. If you shop around on Spadout, the Clymb and Amazon you can do much better than suggested retail pricing.

The girl in Lockers pic is my regular climbing partner,,and yes, she does wear those sleek tights about every day we hit the rocks.!!
Not sure if they still make that model of tights in XXL old man' sizes though....otherwise I'd be trying them too , for the knees and support needed. Best of luck.

Locker, those days when we climbed together and you wore that mesh thingy are some of my fondest climbing memories, though it was very difficult to focus on crux moves.

Skins makes quality compression tights.

+1 shopping on non-retail sites.

...and thank you Locker for NOT posting up a selfie in tights!

I've seen dude bros wearing these at the crag before, a little super-man cod-piece-esque but it is what it is.

I have a really good pair of sliding shorts (baseball/softball) that go almost to the knees that I wear under a regular pair of shorts.
