lone peak 2013
From July 14th, 2013. Good run off in the cirque around 3-5pm. Good 24 hour run off below the boulder field. Bugs are not too bad; nobody in the cirque last weekend! |

Any updates on LP this weekend? Water? |
Bump..anyone have a update. Looking to go back up this weekend too. |
Water was trickling later in the afternoon as of 7/21. There was still snow in the cirque to melt. There was plenty of water to fill your water bottles if you are coming up from the alpine trail. |
Water update anyone?? I am heading up there on wednesday and would really like to know how much water I need to drag up the mountain... Thanks |
Anyone? |
No running water in the cirque. A decent amount of snow left as of today. A few small streams flowing from the alpine side. |
Can anyone give report on the water situation from the Jacob's Ladder approach? I would think that there would be some water flowing in the forested gully before the boulder field, but it would be really helpful to know for sure. |

I was up there a few days ago. The Draper approach was super hot. I highly recommend an early start and to watch out for snakes as we saw a huge rattlesnake. There was water at the first campsite meadow (just above the top of the major hill, where the trail splits for the summit trail) also water in the valley before entering the cirque. Plenty of water flowing if you look in the right places. I didn't see any water in the cirque proper, still a small patch of snow though. |
Right on. Thanks Brad. |

there was still plenty of running water just before the cirque this weekend! |
I'm looking for a partner to go up to the cirque for a few days approximately Sunday 8/18 through Wednesday 8/21, dates are slightly flexible. Looking to do stuff like... |
Hopefully this doesn't come off stupid. What's the nearest water to the cirque? I've heard there is a spring in the upper meadow but that it might not be there this time of year. Any input would be much appreciated! |

In early August there was still water running in a short section of the stream bed that exits the cirque. You can see how much snow was left at that time in the photos above (hint: not much). You'd be very lucky at this point to find either snow or running water unless maybe you were to follow a significant precip event. One of those IME types may still be going up there. |

2nd for Brian; not much up there this time of year. |

Not sure what this meadow area is called, but there is a spring in flattish meadow/trees that you encounter after dropping down a bit from the ridge line at the top of Jacob's Ladder/Draper (where scouts usually camp; flows in a channel about 50 yards north of the trail). I've been told it's perennial, but I don't know for certain, especially this year. There's another spring in upper Bear Canyon that intersects the trail and is documented as perennial (I can confirm it was flowing in September a few years ago); this option really only makes sense if you take that trail. Both options are a ways below the cirque, but could be useful for hiking up with empty jugs. |
