Rodellar beta?

Hi all.

The lady and I are going to be renting a car out of Barcelona and will be headed to Rodellar for a week here real soon as a portion of our honeymoon trip.

I have a few questions I am hoping someone can help out with.

-First, I have heard Rodellar will be hot but we should be able to find some shade to somewhat climb comfortably. I understand this is variable, but anyone have any thoughts on this? We are pretty open to a change in plans....

-Assuming we stick with Rodellar, is there anywhere in the area we can camp free? I know there are a couple campgrounds, but we are running low on cash as is. We have a tent....

-Any beta on a guidebook? I know there are a couple options, but where might be a good place to pick one up?

Thanks in advance.
Matt

I was there during august a couple years ago, heat should should be fine if you stick to the shade. I can't speak for if this is still the case or not, but we stayed in a parking lot off the main road about 1/4 mile before getting to the main campground/center of town. It was free, loaded with vans, and had a fountain... cheers

You can get a guide book in Rodellar. We stayed in the pay campground and it was cheap enough with showers etc. Walking distance to climbing otherwise you will be fighting for space to park.

If it is too warm, you can head north to more fine crags. I'd add Riglos to your visit if you want to climb long juggy bolted routes up to 1,000' on conglomerate limestone.

Both places can be warm, depends on what you're used to. Chasing shade is most effective either area.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
