Tahoe in July?

I am still in the planning stages of our summer trip. At this point it's Tahoe area for 5-6 days and then Tuolumne for about the same. The problem is that our trip is in the middle of July. I would like to climb Lover's Leap and Phantom Spires areas, but am concerned about the heat. Are there plenty of routes in the shade? or should I change my plans? I'll be with my wife, so we are looking for mellow multi-pitch trad routes 5.6-5.9+.
Our plans are definitely changeable. We wanted to go somewhere we haven't been before, but if it's a bad time let me know and I'll change it up.
Suggestions please!

You'll be okay. Hottest part of the day might be rough, but there are lots of other hours in the day when the temperature is perfect. There are other places that are higher elevation as well.

We spent most of June in the Tahoe area last year and were never hot in fact it snowed on us at Big Chief one night. Climbing temps were generally perfect and there are lots of places at high elevation or shaded aspects.

Lover's Leap can get hot, but it cools off fast in the evening as well. Just get there early for the classics so you can beat the heat.

I think we used the Super Topo guide and had a great time. Here are some shots from a few of the places you mentioned. Phantom Spires is a must if you haven't been there, that place is wild!

If there's a heat wave don't climb in the middle o the day.. Climb early then swim/chill at the river then climb after.. Plenty of light early and late that wont be hot.

Spent last week (June 19-26) at Lover's Leap.

The main cliff does not take sun until midday.

The Hogsback takes sun earlier.

Really hot in full sun.

Early starts help.

Watch out for storms.

At Donner you can chase shade crag by crag---and probably will need to do so.

Have Fun!
