I'm flying down to the area for the holiday weekend and would love to get some climbing in. I'll be flying standby, so will only be able to bring carry-on luggage with me (helmet, harness, shoes, belay device), so no lead gear or rope.
Any locals looking for a partner for Friday or Saturday (weather permitting)? Half-day or Full-day fine with me, I'd just love to get on some rock.
He means Cathy's Creek. It's well detailed in the new guide by Mike Reardon, definitely worth picking up. It stays dry in the rain.

Cathey's creek probably wouldn't be a good option either since it tends to seep after the rain. It's best at the onset of the monsoon, not at the end.
Somewhere that dries quickly would be the better option for the weekend. I know it's not in season, but you might want to consider something like the cereal buttress at Rumbling Bald in the late afternoon (when it's shady). Some places in Linville also dry very quickly due to the higher and more exposed position of the cliff's, as opposed to the jungle like environment around Asheville.
Good luck, and be sure to bring a good rain jacket...
