Hello All,

Just added a new area to South lake tahoe. It is my first time doing this so please check it out on mtn proj and let me know of my fuck ups and where i can improve stuff. Also if you have any history on the area it would be appreciated if you would share the info. Please go check out the area in real life (not on mtn proj) and leave a comment detailing your experience and what you thought of the routes or area. bring a helmet and have fun. oh and bring a camera to show us what you climbed.

Thanks for your input,

Bruce

It's true, there are very few climbers in South Lake in general. And most of the ones that do, actually better define the stereotypical "bay area" climber than those who are actually from the Bay Area. Not to many motivated, adventurous souls left up that way.

The directions could use a bit of work. Road names, mileage from obvious landmarks etc... Finding "the dirt road on the left" is a bit vague for someone who hasn't been there.

Hahaha.... that's classic! ^^^^^

The SLT focus is also appropriately random.

My suggestion is to just post your routes, people will make their suggestions in PMs to you or in the comments if they care. It's not that big a deal.

Out in Reno for the Summer working a rotation at a rehab hospital and loving the Truckee/Donner Pass and South Lake Tahoe climbing. Just went to eagle creek last weekend and climbed some amazing cracks! Glad to hear there's more getting put up, there's so much rock out here. I love the climbing back in the Southeast but the weather here is so much better in the summer, can't beat it so far in comparison!

Anyone out here looking to climb in the Donner Pass crags or down in Lake Tahoe over the weekends, feel free to PM or email me.

If so, lets talk! Looking for partners for the weekends in Tahoe area.

Just watch your odometer the next time you drive out there. Say something like "from the HWY 50 turnoff or such n such street in Meyers, drive ?.?? number of miles and turn left onto ?dirt? road".

There is only one road off to the left between southern end of grass lake and hope valley when comin from meyers... And no dirt roads that would lead anywhere off 89 btwn 50 an 88 besides the one in question... But mileage would make people feel better I guess

Tahoe Climbers,

Sorry to post off topic, but it seemed like the place to do it.

For what its worth I found a photo card "Kingston Micro SS adapter"

at the East Wall of Lover's Leap the other day.

E-Mail me and I will mail it back.

Plenty of motivated adventurers here in SLT. Bruce, glad to hear your back at the climbing. I have an adventure planned if you're willing. I'll send a pm.
Regarding directions, this Freel peak page has a little info. The road is FS 051, but your directions suffice since you'll never seee a sign that says FS 051. Keep in mind to get to Horse thief meadows you would actually take a road (I think it's the other end of the same one) that hits Hwy 88 closer to Sorensens Resort. The correct one gets to Horse Meadow rather than Horse Thief Meadow if you're consulting G-Maps.

Agreed, plenty of motivated climbers here, they just don't hang out on the internet. I never lack for finding a partner when I want to get out.

That spot looks pretty cool. I've looked at it from afar and wondered what it would be like.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
