Wow, Jeremy, sounds like fun. Is there a website? Do participants need to register to take part in the clinics, BBQ, etc? Details, details, details.

We are working on the details right now. You can get all of the updates if you like the Facebook page:

facebook.com/RifleClimbersF…

We will probably have a pre-event registration for the clinics but if they are not full you could register at the event. As far as the Sharma Presentation BBQ, Comp you can register at the event. We are working with the town to figure out the camping/parking, etc. Once we figure that all out we will determine how much the registration will cost. All profits will be split between the Rifle Climbers Coalition and the Access Fund.

How much would you want to pay if it included:
Free Beer
BBQ
Clinics
Sharma presentation
Camping for Fri/Sat
Day use fee for Sat/Sun
prizes
swag
etc.

What happened to the old Dave Pegg?

Dave is still really involved with the community but he is working really hard right now to get the new Rifle guidebook done. I am the local rep for prAna so I used some of my resources to pull this together this year.

Hi Jeremy!

Sounds like a great event but I will miss the Old Dave Pegg.

So does this mean there will not be an Autumn Clean-up Party as in years past? Or is one still planned?

I always donate about $20-30 at the party anyway... will there be a raffle? ;-)

Hello John,

Dave will be at the event so come by and say hello. This will be the clean up event for the year. Saturday will focus on climbing, fun, presentations, clinics, etc. Sunday we will be doing the clean up projects for anyone who wants to help. We will be having a raffle, I am reaching out to a ton of different companies right now to get some awesome prizes. If you go to our Facebook page you can get all the info as work out the details.

Nice John. We are going to get a bunch of prizes for the raffle so your chances of winning something are pretty good. The profits will be donated to the Access Fund and the Rifle Climbers Coalition who take care of the hardware in the canyon.

In the last 15 or so years, I have won something at EVERY party, including shoes! And that's not counting the stories that have grown into Legends ;-)

Let's just hope the Park doesn't burn.

Ward Gulch Fire Update 6-16-13 9:00:

The fire is still reported at 682 Acres. The increase in acreage is due to more accurate mapping. The fire has not grown significantly since Friday.

The Incident Commander feels that significant has been made in the past 24 hours. Crews will focus on strengthening fire line along the west flank and completing fire line along the east flank where the fire is closest to Hwy 325, the fish hatchery, and residences.

200+ firefighters, 3 helicopters, 2 heavy air tankers, and several single engine tankers will be working the fire today. One drop was made by the DC-10 VLAT (very large air tanker).

Firefighter and public safety are the number one priority. Structure protection and protecting the watershed for the Rifle Falls Fish Hatchery are also priorities. No structures are immediately threatened at this time.

Rifle Falls State Park, Rifle Mountain Park, and the Rifle Falls Fish Hatchery are closed. Rifle Gap State Park is open, but closed to boating due to the helicopter activity.

Colorado Highway 325 is still closed north of the intersection with Grass Valley Road. Residents along the road closure are still evacuated.

As more information becomes available, we will pass it along.

Just got news that the fire is getting contained! Things are looking better. They are going to try and re-open the canyon mid week.
