I'm in Zion for the summer. I can climb most days after 530 and I have Fri-Sun off.

Hi Josh!

I'm headed to Zion tomorrow (Sun) afternoon and might be able to do a late afternoon climb. My plan was to stay for a few days and probably leave Wed (June 5). I could possibly climb with you after you get off work Mon and Tues.

I'm trad leading 5.8 and can follow 10a. I have a bunch of my own gear and a vehicle.

Hey!
I will be in Zion on June 16th or June17th. Do either of those days work for you to climb?

I will hopefully be headed down to soon, but afraid that it is going to be too hot. How are the temps in the shade?

They are fine for me on Kung Fu Theater wall depends what you are use to I suppose.

Temps are decent until noon. Big Bend and the tunnel wall areas get afternoon shade. Heading to Kolob Canyon on Sunday.

Tunnel Wall is actually not good in the afternoon except for the alcove of Gypsy's Curse (5.10), Feast of Snakes (5.11) and Pick on the Fat Kid, all good routes. Lap Dance (5.11) for example is full sun in the afternoon. Kung Fu Theater wall is much better this time of year, full on shade. I climb there all June no worries. A lot of folks get this confused with Tunnel Wall, two different areas. Good luck.

I'm trying to coordinate dates with Josh who so kindly responded. Below it says he can climb after 5:30 most days and has Friday - Sunday off.

I believe we need to pick some climbs and those would have to come from Josh because it lives in the area.

What is your experience level?

Hey Laura,
Not 100% sure what my plans are for the fourth. I would like to climb right toilet cracks, crag around big bend and cragmount and I usually go to kolob canyon once a week.

Hey Josh:

I've been looking at my book too for climbs. I found the beta on Mountain Project for the right toilet crack. Unless these are named something else, I would like to get their beta from MP too: crag around big bend and cragmount

Like I said, we are at your mercy, any day of the week.

I've looked at these climbs:

LOWER ZIONS:

Ataxia Tower (2 pitches)
Practice Cliffs (single pitch)
Carbuncle Buttress (they seem to have a lot of fun little climbs)

UPPER ZIONS:

Angels Landing (7 pitches)
The Pulpit (2 pitches)
The Spearhead (10 pitches)

That's all I've looked at so far, but we'll go where you are familiar. Again, direct me to some beta on those other two routes. Can't find them on MP

I'm not sure what my plans are for next weekend. Hopefully friday I will be headed up to kolob. If you guys want to camp in my backyard feel free. I have a place in the park with a kitchen and bathroom you can use. I would be stoked if you could bring up some Bells Oberon :)

Josh:

We are in Mt. Carmel and would like to come over to Kolob Friday morning.

If you can call me at 602-303-0006 then we could set-up details and see if we can set this up.

Laura
