Painting wood volumes

I've made several wood volumes for my woody but I've always just gone with primer and some spray paint. The first few that I made looked pretty rough so I recently sanded them down and refinished them. I have been considering painting them with truck liner paint to give them a little texture and hopefully make the paint last a little longer. It isn't nearly as exspensive as I thought it would be.

Has anybody painted their volumes with truck liner paint?
Has anybody used truck liner paint on anything? Do you think it would be worth it on a volume?

Try a "direct to metal" paint and add Skid Tex to it. Works great in commercial gyms.

I've used bedliner - spray can type on several volumes. It almost matches what motivation uses on their volumes. Do several coats.

FWIW, I painted the lid of a box at work with it. About a 3'x4' piece of plywood and it took all of one can to do it. If I'd had more I would have used it. It doesn't go as far as you might think.

You can get buckets of granite dust free from headstone makers, it adds the perfect amount of grit to paint.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
