Never been, got a trip planned with some buddies. Some of us are coming from 7hrs away.

Accuweather is calling for 1.9" of rain on Thursday in Lancing, TN, we were planning to climb Thurs-Sat. accuweather.com/en/us/lanci…

I know there are roofs there, but what do you guys think. Over an inch of rain on Thursday is that going to royally screw our plans?

Thx in advance!

If we get that much rain over Thursday and Friday it may be wet, but if the routes your looking for are moderately over-hung you should be ok. Even in areas where there is run-off from the top, the actual routes stay pretty dry, especially in North, Mid, and South Clear. Little Clear Creek may be a pain since there is a stream crossing to get there with no bridge. Last time I was there after some rain Lily Bluffs was pretty wet.

Cool thanks Jeff. We were hoping for nothing over 5.10c in prime conditions for us. The two leaders in our group are looking for ideally 5.8-5.10a routes.

Post up if you guys have any thoughts, we appreciate the local intel!

I was trying to make it to Little Clear 2 or 3 weeks ago and the stream you will have to cross will be probably be running pretty high. You might be able to cross if you don't mind knee high swift moving water. I was with my pregnant wife so I didn't think that would be a good idea.

Also, just as a heads up, the moderates at the Image Wall in South Clear could very well be wet after a rain. I know the last few moves on both Comic Reliefs and the crack move on Coco Puffs stay wet longer than the other routes in South Clear since these routes aren't under any roofs. It (10.a) in the Stephen Kings Library will definitely be dry and is a fun, although pretty short, route.

Last tid bit of info. if you are interested in bouldering, Lily Boulder field stays wet for a good while after any rain.

I myself was looking at getting out to the Obed but the rain has me a little on the fence. Good luck though and I certainly hope the weather cooperates for you to get out.

Doubtful. Tieranny stays dry...but not the grade-range you're looking for.

This is good advice.

Haha exactly what happened to me. And this was in Feb when we got tons of rain so "swift" was an understatement then. I'll be honest Ive thought about waders while its still ice cold.

I will also be up this weekend with a few people. South Clear will be dry and I am willing to say North Clear will too. The rain is stopping today and Tomorrow is clear and sunny as is Saturday so both will offer plenty of climbing. I have climbed in pouring down rain at North Clear, Lily Bluff, and South Clear and still had a good time. Hell we did Best Seat in the rain. Added a whole new set of challenges.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
