Scheduled on Apr 5, 2013

Come and see Crusher Bartlett's slideshow at REI, Saratoga (almost in San Jose), April 5. Getting to the tops of the spindly desert towers of the Southwest has alway been a challenge and an adventure, from John Otto on Independence Monument in 1911, through David Brower on Shiprock in 1939, through Layton Kor in the 60s, up to the present day with hard, scary, free climbing epics, in the most colorful scenery on Earth.

Book signing of the award-winning "Desert Towers" book, to follow.

please remember to sign up for your place on the REI webpage. Seating is limited!

Castleton Tower. First climbed in 1961 by Layton Kor and Huntley Ingalls, who narrowly escaped being fried by lightning during their ascent. Now one of the most popular towers in the desert.
