Hello,

Im a climber from the UK coming to the US for a road trip this year. I have taken 6 months off work and keen to get lots of climbing done. Late Feb - July

I have a couple of friends who are going to be in Yosemite in April or May and another friend who i plan to meet in Red rocks for a week sometime in March but beyond that i am partnerless.

If anyone is up for doing some climbing anywhere from J Tree, Red rocks, indian creek, bishop, yosemite etc then give me a shout. I will have a car, rack ropes but no boulder pad. Im up for trad, sport, bouldering. Im friendly, reliable, trustworthy and make a really good english breakfast. I can also look after you, and maybe mend you if you break or get sick (work as a doctor in UK).

Im not sure how hard i can trad climb as the grades dont translate very well and i havent done a lot of crack climbing. I have climbed 5.10c/d trad in the UK but would probably get my arse kicked by a 5.9 crack. I climb 5.12c sport 5.12d on a good day. Boulder about V6ish.

Im really open to any destination or style of climbing. I was either going to fly into LA or salt lake city , buy a car and go from there..... unless anyone has any better advice.

Cheers

Felix

Felix:
IF you by chance plan to cross the entire country from the west coast, do be sure to make a lengthy stop in Kentucky at the Red River Gorge. You will find many international climbers and locals available on a daily basis at Miguels Pizza, the heart of the climbing community at the Red. Best in late spring, as summer can be pretty humid and T-storms. Fall is the top season down there, with Sept and Oct. being the time when alot of hard projects get completed. Lots of sport climbs, trad too if you want it. New guidebooks coming out by Feb. this year with all the details you would need. Best of luck on your trip.

I should be lurking around. I could possibly also be your ride initially if you don't have too much stuff. If I were to guess, I'd say I was in Arizona when you're due to land.

If you fly into SLC, dont miss Joe's Valley

Buying a car in the US is easy, but as a non-resident you could have a hard time getting it licensed & registered (and you can't drive a vehicle for 6 months without a license plate). Do some research into California or Utah regulations. Unfortunately many states make it difficult or impossible for non-residents to register a vehicle. You'll also need proof of insurance, which isn't easy to buy as a non-resident.

Hey Felix,
I live in Denver - any plans to hit up the front range? Eldo is world class and worth a stop. Give me a shout if you pass through here! And if it's in the spring/summer, Rocky Mt Nat'l Park is also well worth a few days of your time.
Give a shout if you pass through here!
Cheers,

Felix,

I move back and forth between Utah and California frequently, and am always looking to climb. I'm up for Indian Creek, desert towers, Salt Lake City area, City of Rocks, Yosemite, Donner Summit/Truckee, J Tree, Red Rock... the list goes on! (I'm even familiar with some of the places :) The western U.S. has SO many options for great climbing! I'm into trad and sport, but not so much bouldering. I'm also able to travel plenty of other places and times.

Let me know if you'd like to try and coordinate an adventure!
