Well, we're not saying anything different:

I didn't start until 2007, but what was the name of that guy who's name began with, I think a "K", that was also a professional photographer?
He finally left after getting fed up with the flames, he was pretty acerbic himself, but seemed like a great climber and could burn you with his prose very quickly. I know, he burned me a few times, but I miss his quick wit. Can't remember his name, anybody?

^^^ Let sleeping dogs lie.
Next thing you know people will be longing for Elanor.

How long has Elanor been a contributing member?

I think I jumped on board here around 07 or 08' finally. Was busy on the now defunct 'yourclimbing.com' web that lasted for a couple years before that. Won a few of the $$ for gear monthly prizes there.

Has she ever been a contributing member?

So how did MP come about, each of these sites were independent and one of you said hey lets merge together and everyone was on board? I would imagine there would be some conflicting ideas on who is in charge and if there is going to be any money involved...? Let's hear the birth story of MP :)

Elanor (he, she, whatever) had been somewhat entertaining in the many forms we have put up with. Wonder what form will spring up in the new year.........

Only 8 years but I posted for almost 2 anonymously before signing up.

Boss McGillicutty (sp.)? Those posts still rank as some of the best trolling I've read on the interwebs.

After double & triple checking that the URL was correct, I took some time to look at the new site, and liked it enough to finally sign up. I remember being confused a couple years later when people on the forum were discussing about how MP.com used to be climbingboulder.com. Question: Was climbingmoab.com part of climbingboulder.com, or were the 2 sites separate until the merger?
Mike, climbingmoab.com was a sister site. It used the same code base and webhost, but was more or less a separate site in the administration and theming. Myke K did a great job of making it possible to start climbingwhatever.com in the same style as climbingboulder.com and i ran with it. I was really happy with the community that site built and what Myke helped me create.

I was really wary when Andy and Nick took over and wanted to fold over the smaller community sites into a larger whole, but I have to say they've done a terrific job and I couldn't be a bigger fan than I am now. This site via climbingmoab has been a part of my life for many years, and i'm proud of what it is.

Myke started climbingboulder way back in the day - very late 90s when he was a CU student. I think I more or less kicked off the wave of sister sites with climbingmoab.com - it was the first to get regular contributors and traffic. My brother Peter started climbingblackhills.com, Mike Morley started climbingjtree.com, and there were a few other sites like climbingsaltlake.com, climbingdevilslake.com, climbingslo.com, etc.

When Myke left Boulder and went to grad school, he put a freeze on the sites while trying to get someone to take the IP over. I started writing a new codebase since no one was stepping up, but thankfully Andy and Nick took that huge task off my hands. That is more or less the history since i've been involved.

Ben Mottinger deserves a lot of the credit as well--he was basically a co-founder with Myke.
