So, I got a real good buddy commin in to town for his birthday. He's from Ohio :-/ and he REALLY wants to do something "Epic".."Classic" in The Park.
So, I've been scouring weather sites and it actually looks like it's gonna be pretty nice in Estes...like high 60s-70s.
But, have any of you actually BEEN up in the park? It defintely looks like it has snowed up there from my house (Boulder)...however, snow isn't TOO big of a problem (we have gear). But how serious of a commitment are we talking?
Also, Any recommendations for awesome "Classic" climbs suitable for this time of year? Something South facing perhaps? We thought of Le Petit...but, Sky Pond is pretty high up..and then there's that waterfall toward the end. Is it freezing yet?
I was at Sky Pond on Sunday (10/14) and it is getting pretty icy and wintry above The Loch. Winter gear was definitely needed (boots, gloves, etc.) but no snowshoes yet.
