Backcountry skiing is a wonderful sport, but without proper knowledge it can be deadly. Instructors from the Colorado Mountain School will give a basic introduction to avalanches and mountain safety when travelling in the backcountry. These shows ARE NOT a replacement for a Level I avalanche safety course - the benchmark for anybody planning on venturing into the backcountry - but they are a good introduction to the topic and can help you decide the best place to take your Level I certification. The shows take place Wednesday nights throughout the winter. Bring a beacon if you have one...the will be a few on hand if you don't.
