Hey!

I work at Momentum and it's awesome ( I might be slightly biased) If you feel like checking it out and climbing there to see if you like it, I can get you in for a day. I recently moved to SLC from GA and I LOVE it. It is def a huge culture shock. But the mountains here are worth it. There's no other place I'd rather live. Downtown is great for someone just moving here. I would stay east of 200 west and try to live within walking distance of liberty park.

Good luck! PM me if you have any other questions.

From the looks of it I will need to live in Ogden, but I would love to come check out momentum sometime!

I'll second what's been said about living closer to the bench. Parts of downtown Ogden are shady (by Utah standards, at least, which isn't saying much!)

Another option, depending on how close your work is to the train station, is to live in Layton or Clearfield, both more "suburban" and newer towns. The downside, however, is that you're 25 minutes from Ogden climbing, and 45 from SLC climbing.

But I'm a granite snob, so, the once-a-week drive to SLC's not too bad. Ogden's mostly quartzite which is good for a quick fix (in my opinion). If you're looking for more frequent climbing, probably live closer to Ogden.

The Front Ogden is also a great gym. Momentum has some awesome crack simulators and slightly longer climbs. The Front has some high quality lead climbs, but the ratings are soft. The bouldering wall is extensive.

For what it's worth, any of the aforementioned times are way better than the 2 hour drive I used to have to do to climb on the east coast.

The ogden crowd has easy access to the city of rocks for weekend excursions or just day trips as well which is awesome. not to mention logan canyon limestone as well. BTW season passes to Snowbasin this year are dirt cheap!

once you've been to the Front it'll be hard for you to go anywhere else gym wise. it really is a killer gym, totaling about 10k square feet of wall, including a boulder cave, lead climbing, top roping and several great crack lines. I'm sure momentum is nice but having the Front local vs driving an hour for momentum.....
