Arizona Camping/Backpacking/Climbing - Off the beaten path.

So I'm looking to go somewhere off the beaten path, preferably with beautiful views and lots of open space. I've had a couple of rough weeks and really need to get outside, as far away from the city as possible and kind of "ground" myself.

I don't have a lot of requirements, I'm just wondering what places people have been that they've had their breath taken away, and felt were peaceful and inspiring. I'm coming from Flagstaff, so I know all the local areas, but feel free to comment no matter where your favorite place is, and distance isn't too much of an issue, but I'd like to stay mostly within AZ.

If it's a great spot and you don't want to share it with the world, feel free to send me a private message; I really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Galiuro Mountains or Sierra Anchas for backcountry backpacking. Not much climbing that I know of but you definitely won't run into many people.

The Blue range north of Clifton/Morenci is quite stunning as well. Not sure about climbing though.

+1!

Also, the suggestion of Sierra Ancha is good as well, although some areas require 4x4 to continue deeper into the wilderness. There are some amazing cliff dwelling ruins out there.

WEST CLEAR CREEK is amazing! It's like a mini Zion Nat Park with out the people. or access.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
