I wanted to let you know about an Adopt a Crag event happening in your area.
Where: N. Table Mountain, Golden, CO
When: 8am-2pm - September 15, 2012
Hosted by: Access Fund & Jefferson County Open Space
Details: Come join the Access Fund and Jefferson County Open Space for a day of trail improvements throughout the climbing areas at North Table Mountain in Golden, CO. We're excited to partner together on this shared resource and look forward to a great day out! Climbing at the Golden Cliffs of N. Table Mountain has been a popular activity for years. With its short approach, friendly beginner climbing options, winter warmth and proximity to heavily populated areas the trails, parking areas and climb staging areas continue to see deteriorating conditions. Access Fund and Jefferson County Open Space are hoping to pull together a great group of volunteers from the surrounding area, who make regular trips to N. Table Mountain and are invested in seeing improvements to the area. We have a great list of projects we're hoping to accomplish, including: trail- tread improvements, social trail closures, improvements to both access gullies and a variety of smaller opportunities. Volunteers will meet at the Access Fund Trailhead at the end of Peery Pkwy in Golden, CO (please keep in mind this is a residential area) at 8am. Once volunteers arrive, we'll ensure everyone is registered and then separate into a variety of working groups at 8:30am, with trail leaders from the Access Fund Conservation Team and Jefferson County Open Space staff. There's no shortage of work at the site, so don't worry about being bored...we can keep everyone busy! Tools, supplies and snacks will be provided; we simply encourage volunteers to wear closed toe shoes, long pants and bring a pair of gloves. Work will wrap up around 2pm.
Volunteers must register at jeffco.us/openspace/openspace_T56_R126.htm#form where they can also fill out necessary liability forms (forms will also be available on-site). Please be sure to enter "Adopt a Crag" as the Group Name.
Every hour of time you donate to a crag helps show land managers that climbers are responsible stewards. Grab some friends and a pair of work gloves and spend a day giving back to the sport you love! We hope to see you there.
Thanks for your support,
Ty Tyler
