Flatirons Trail Closure – Connector from NCAR to Mesa Trail

Beginning Aug 27, access to the Mesa Trail from NCAR will be closed from 7 a.m. Monday through 4:30 p.m. Friday each week through Sept. 28 to allow for ongoing wildfire mitigation forestry work. The connector trail will be open on weekends and on Labor Day. For more information about the forestry project, visit www.ucar.edu/forest.

The NCAR trail closure that has been in place since August 27 has been extended through October 12 to allow wildfire risk mitigation forestry work to be completed.

The closure continues for the trail connector on the NCAR property that provides access to the Mesa Trail and Mallory Cave. It remains in effect from 7:00 am on Monday morning until 4:30 pm on Friday afternoon each week. The trail is open on weekends.

The forest crew is wrapping up work in steep and challenging terrain, and this closure is a safety measure to reduce risk to the public and forestry workers while tree thinning takes place.

The Walter Orr Roberts Weather Trail remains open. Hikers are advised to choose alternate routes to access city of Boulder Open Space and the Mesa Trail on weekdays during the closure.
