RUSH ESSENTIALS

I wanted to give a heads up to those who might be considering buying products from Rush Essentials, the makers of Hand Jam oil and a few other hand care products. rushessentials.com

I ordered a couple of their products direct from the company back in March 2012 and I have still not received them or a refund as I have requested (now May 2012). I emailed the company several times inquiring about the whereabouts of the products. I got a couple of BS responses early on saying that the border officials must be holding them up since the order was shipped from Canada. I admit I bought that BS excuse for a little while but now I realize that RUSH ESSENTIALS is a FRAUDULENT COMPANY. The company no longer responds to my emails and their phone number has been disconnected. I urge you all not to buy any of their products.

Just dispute the charge with your bank. Its basically like doing a charge back. Anyway, your bank will credit you your money back. That is why I love using my Visa. If a merchant screws me over, all I need to do is call my bank and I will get my money back in an hour. However, most banks have a limit of how long you can wait. It is normally 30-60 days after the charge, so I would call your bank ASAP.

I already reported it to econsumer.gov, they handle international claims like this one. Which as far as I can tell does nothing unless many people make a claim against the same vendor.

It was a paypal payment, so the normal visa reversal for some reason cannot be done. Paypal will only reverse charges if it is within 45 days. Lesson learned.

Update:

3 months later I finally got my refund. Apparently they are selling the company and are having issues.

Scammers or not, they sell sand... Sand! From a marketing standpoint, that is the cleverest barrel of tripe I've seen in quite some time:

"Get your hands ready for rock and chalk. Weather you are new to climbing or have just been away for a while, you need HAND SAND.
This unique blend of silica gel, sand and sea salt is ideal for toughening up skin. Just play in the HAND SAND for about 5 min a day for a couple of days and you will see the difference. Skin will get tougher, just remember for the best result , after each HAND SAND session, follow up with a fed drops of HAND JAM OIL. This will help to keep your skin flexible."

Oh brother. "Just play in the sand...", good night!! If they sold one order of that "product" for the listed $13 or whatever, holy smokes - they deserve an award. I've heard of selling ice to Eskimos, etc. But sand!?? Priceless..

Millions of Americans buy things they can get for free in their very own home, every day. Read: Bottled water.

This is an official "I'm sorry" to Mike to anyone else who ordered through pay pal and did not recieve product from us, there was 6 people since feb 2012, most of which were from California.
There were 2 major reasons product did not get to these people. 1, package failure, 2, We did not include MSDS sheets with the product. As we are shipping an oil product through the mail when it leaked it was taken out of circulation. I figure the packaging failure was due to altitude difference. The products are packaged a sea level and as far as I can gather the packaging would not allow for the expantion.... I can only guess but it seems like the most logical explination.
All 6 people were refunded once I recieved confirmation from the USPS.

Unfortunitly I'm a 1 woman show and this is a small partime business for me so it can be hard to be timely and effective. On top of it all, I had a glitch with access to my email but did not realise it until almost 1 month after the problem happened and I am still dealing with this problem... Blame Godaddy!

Yes it is true I have been trying to sell or close the company, because of lack of time on my part, however lately sales have been growing steadily with more and more intrest from the USA and europe, it has allowed me to earn a reasonable income and so I have reconsidered my decision.

For the moment we have stopped selling through our website until we can fix the packaging issue and can guarantee delivery, I am making an effort to have a material saftey data sheet done by US standard and once this is complete i will be selling through a US distributor out of Utah.

No body is perfect so I hope that you uderstand that I am not running a scam and I am very sorry for any frustration I may have caused you or the others who took a chance on buying Hand Jam on line.

Oh and about selling ice in the artic.... you can brush your teeth with baking soda, it does a great job but it tastes like shit! Hand Sand like it or not works better that beach sand, dune sand or gravel ect.... There is science behind it! I think I will consider calling it something else though. I appricate the comment, it's always good the hear the truth good or bad!
Happy Climbing!

lmfao! I was thinking the same thing - probably shouldn't use the box you're using to freshen up the litter box room.

In her defense, GODADDY.COM is a horrible hosting company. And whether or not her products work, people have the right to buy them. Love to see Sue out there trying to make life better for herself and learning from her mistakes!!

Ok so here it goes. What's so specials about hand sand.
1st off, it's will work for just about anyone but is especially great for those people with really humid skin that no matter how much they climb you can't seem to form any calluses.
The way it works is this. The coarse nature of the combined materials helps to stimulate the stratum lucidum (layer of the skin where calluses are formed), Next the combination of sea salts and silica gel draw water from the skin and trap it in the formula. This helps to change the moisture balance on the surface of the skin and speeds up the flattening of skin cells while leaving sebum (your skins natural oil intact) The concentrated sebum acts like a glue anchoring the flattened cells together. Essentially toughening up the skin.
If you are blessed with leathery hands then Hand Sand (I'll rename it later) might turn your tips glassy but for most people it does not.
FYI- The product will last years!

As for scientific findings I do extensive product testing on all my products before putting them to market. Skin is analyses and journals are kept of the results.
I test on 4 specific skin types under various environmental conditions. All Product tester are required to fill out lengthy questionnaires. In Canada, every topical cosmetic product formulation must be submitted to the government in the form of a product declaration, before it can be sold for retail.

I realize that no matter what I say on this forum there will always be those who get a charge out of being rude, so good luck to you, you know who you are. To those whom I owe a sincere apology, I hope you accept what I offer as personal and honest.

So maybe it's not 100% snake oil, but it's still entirely unnecessary. Why would I buy sand and creams to create calluses when I could just be out climbing?

Kinda reminds me of when I was at Mt. St. Helens recently. The gift shop was selling bottles of ash from the volcano for $5. Or you could just step outside yourself and scoop up a handful of the stuff off the ground.

Anyway, props for trying to substantiate you claims. I respect your willingness to do so, even if I think your product is a sham.

@Sue,

That is not a citation, it is an anecdote.
I'd be curious to see your methodology tried out on playground sand and table salt.

Anyway good luck in your business venture, like Barnum says, "There's a sucker born every minute."

hand sand will make your hands and fingers slippery and its not going to create callus. Everybody will form callus eventually with enough impact, exfoliation has nothing to do with it. For exfoliating purposes you can use sugar, sea salt of even used coffee grounds in a shower all over your body, but on hands and feet its only for cleaning purposes not calus forming. Volcanic ash is great as a detoxifying mask, but so is clay. The reason why they charge for it is just like they sell french clay for body masks its probably filtered. There is a huge selection of different types of clay, salts, scrubs etc in any natural foods store. Although this topic is interesting to me as a female unless the guys on here are super metro they should not be so botherred about this type of products. Its not a "guy thing" so to say.

it will not cure thin sewaty skin on palms the amount of sweat glands is hereditory, by detoxifying i mean the wet clay or volcanic ash drying on your skin pulls impurities and oils out or if you rub salt or sugar grains they debride dead skin off surface.

That's what I was thinking as well. That said, many businesses offer things that people could do themselves- if enough people are willing to pay for a bit of convenience then it can be a good business. I use Climb On hand salve, and while I probably could mix all the ingredients myself for a lower price it's pretty low on my list of stuff to do...
