The gf just sent me this link youbars.com

It is a pretty sweet, customizable energy bar distributor. The bars are pretty expensive ($2.99/bar) but you can add pretty much anything you desire.

Sunflower Seed Butter, Rice Protein, Chia seeds, and blueberries with agave syrup, chocolate chips, oat bran, and stevia? No problem.

I haven't ordered anything from them yet but I figured I'd pass along the site and see if anyone has used this company before.

Happy Snackin'!

First off... 2.99 a bar is just stupid.

Secondly... I was seeing a girl who chose the owner of this company over me. So I suggest a boycott.

$3/ea for 50g energy bars? Who in their right mind...?

If you really want to "make your own" energy bars, you really should just MAKE YOUR OWN. For $20 I'm sure you could get enough ingredients to make a few dozen bars. Just find a generic "bar" recipe online somewhere then throw in whatever you want.

BOYCOTT +1 and: you could probably start your own youbar for $20...just

start with 2 cups of oats +
2 dollops of peanut butter

"dabs" of -agave sweetener/brown rice flour (or syrup)/honey

"dashes" of cinammon, nutmeg, salt,

"handful" of nuts/seeds/craisins/dried fruit

"just enough" liquid-water/milk/eggs

"extra" quick oats if you want to mess with the glycemic index....

If you have a food processor, it takes seconds to get to a "clif bar" consistency...
you can easily use a mixer or probably a blender...

15-20 in a 375deg oven, you are golden, literally....ymmv

?

profit!

Or, just make a peanut butter and jam sandwich. To stiffen it up like a bar, mix the peanut butter with oats and toast the bread.

Astro Balls (so dubbed by my friend who lived in Yosemite in the early 80s)

1 cup almond butter
1 cup raisins food processed
1 cup peanuts coarse chopped- can be raw, roasted, whatever
1 cup steel cut oats plus extra for dusting
2-3 Tspoon sesame seeds optional could use chia, hemp, etc

mix first 3 ingredients into thick paste.

knead in 1/2 steel cut oats and sesame seeds. work in remaining oats plus more if necessary to create a dense loaf of "dough". let set 15 min or longer to consolidate.

Roll into about 1.25 inch balls and dust with extra oats. yields approx. 24 balls.

a very crude analysis of ingredients indicates approx 160 cal, 10g fat, 9 protein, 8 carb, plus a good dose of fiber/ ball.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
