Ok Wyoming folks, My buddies and I are out in Wyoming for a couple weeks in July for a dual bachelor party in the Bighorns and then a wedding in the Snowy Range a week later. Four of us will be climbing in Ten Sleep for a couple days and then Vedauwoo for a couple days, all week days. I was wondering where the most remote camp spots and climbing areas are in both places? Thanks in advance, -Nick

Great campground at Vedauwoo and also lots and lots of primitive camping. Normally there is a lot of camping at Ten Sleep as well, but I know there is some road construction right now that may have impacted some of the camping........but I am not sure. No matter where you camp though.......realize that there may be a complete fire ban!!!!!

Vedauwoo is not remote by any means --- it's right off the highway! was just there yesterday -- camping is $10/site per night. There was crazy smoke up there from the colorado fires blowing north.. and we could barely see the crags in the morning.

I personally do not like to pay for camping, so I love the Voo! When driving in, DO NOT go into the pay area. Instead, keep driving. Check out East L.A., 5 min on the right (belay from your tent if you like, you will not be alone), Or some others further down the road. Some sites are littered with broken glass, so be carefull. And, dispose of your poo carefully. Buy fire wood in Laramie/Chey, as the placed has been picked over well. Or, pay for a site and be within very easy walking distance to the Holdout, Naut, etc. Nothing there is very remote unless you pack in. Expect lots of Boy Scouts, Laramie locals, etc. Its a great place but it aint remote if you camp close to your car. Have fun, bring trad gear, and LOTS of tape. Oh yeah, try Poland Hill to beat the crowds. Have fun!

For Vedawoo, semi-remote camping is on road 700 (including spurs A to E). For slightly more remote camping go to road 707 (including sprus A to ??).

Fire ban just went into effect today, all public lands in Albany CO, which includes all of the established climbing areas. FYI

"Primitive" 'woo camping is a lot like camping in the city - they don't call it East L.A. for nothing - place has become a total disgrace. Everytime I return, I'm dismayed at the fresh destruction and ghetto-dbags roaring around the place. I'd rec. paying the $10 bucks - at least most of the f-wads will be filtered out.

For Ten Sleep - you can camp down by the fish hatchery. There is a pay site that is pretty expensive, but there are pull-offs along the road (some with rock fire rings) that are free. I don't think the camping up the way is impacted by the construction (turn R at brown sign with number 18 on it). Were you looking for recommendations for remote crags for Ten Sleep?

There aren't a ton of routes there though. If you can I would go with someone that's been there before - me and my partner got quite lost trying to find it.
