Partners in South-Central Utah this summer (Capitol Reef NP)

So, I'm going to be living and working in Torrey, Utah, this summer, with no climbing partners. I used to climb in the area quite a bit, but I suspect that since the Hoods in the Woods program there closed, there will be a distinct lack of outdoors-type folks to climb with.

So, if anyone is interested in climbing obscure desert splitters in the summer (hot, but we can chase shade), or making a longer excursion to other undocumented areas around there, give me a shout at {camhead at gee mail dot com}, or hell, if you're in the area, just stop by Hondoo Rivers and Trails on Main St. and ask for Paul.

I really hope I don't wind up commuting to Maple Canyon every time I have a day off!

Was just in Torrey last week. Met a guy over in Escalante who was looking for partners, he described a grim scene as far as finding people to climb with. However, he generously offered to take us on a tour of the local bouldering. Not sure how you could get in touch with him but he was doing some maintenance work on the building next to Griffin Grocery in the middle of town. Good luck!

Howdy all. I happen to be that lone climber in Escalante. Unfortunately I am about to finish the construction project that brought me here. But I will probably be back in August to do another gig. If you want any beta on the climbing around Escalante, I am more than happy to pass it on whether I am here or not.

Might be a good time to get into canyoneering. Plenty of good stuff out your way and it's pretty easy to hook up with people out there.

That's true and there are some sweet canyons there, including a few that I still haven't done. However, I'd still rather climb.

Scott, I'll try to get in touch with you for August!

Howdy Paul. I still have a few days here if you want to come down for a little tour. Also, I have been living off and on in Escalante for many years, and have put up loads of routes/problems in obscure areas from the Henry mountains to Escalante. I am happy to give the beta for those areas as well. I imagine you should be able to find partners in Torrey if you dig a bit. Good luck.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
