Check Patagonia's website. They have a closeout section with pretty good pricing. Also check the Columbia outlet downtown.

Go to Spadout and start looking, almost every website/store has sales on clothing right now, and many times XL, XXL is all they have on sale.

bump-er-oo

anyone have a comparison on the r1 hoodie vs. the r1 pullover? the hoodie is like 130 bucks cheaper so i'm thinking i'm missing something... i want my desert-ized blood to be WARM in the shade! (at a reasonable price ;)

I was looking for an R1 as well and I was told about NW Alpine. I like it better than the R1. Weight and Material are similar, and this piece has a chest pocket as well. It is only $90ish dollars so its cheaper than even a used R1 would cost you.

Oh yea, its made in America as well.

i almost never buy anything new but i'm stoked to be buying the NW alpine spider light hoodie. i'll post up if it is as great as i think it will be. they also have an alpine salopette set-up that looks pretty incredible as a pair but is pretty expensive... sure would make multi-pitch in december in the shade alot more enjoyable!

thanks again for the info,

jon

MEC in Canada makes a piece very similar to the R1 that is really good and even cheaper than the NW. mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/MensClot…

My only complaint is the lack of any pockets.

cool, thanks. the guy at NW alpine caught on to me drooling over the salopette/ spider light combo and said that they have one in my freakish size that is on sale so i'm going to go with that.

so far, the customer service at NW Alpine is fantastic and i'm excited to try this new american company out of portland.

nwalpine.com/nwalpinist-sal…

there's a link to their salopette for anyone interested and here's the spider light (R1-esque) hoodie

nwalpine.com/black-spider-l…

i'm really excited about the potential warmth of the combo!

thanks for all the beta everyone,

jon
