tested on droid x running gingerbread, looks great. only thing is that the drop down at the top of the area detail is a little small. when you do get it to expand, hitting the right area you want to go up to is a little tricky. tested downloading areas, syncing, adding stars etc, all seems good.

also tested on an asus eepad transformer prime running 4.0. seems like i can log in, but i get an error when i try to "sync my stuff" i get a message saying "an error has occured while syncing, please try again". tried logging out and loggin in again, and no better. other stuff (download areas, maps, areas, photos etc...) seem to work well though.

Issue with the display of user name in the forums. The box to the left of each post that contains the name and avatar of the user is allowing the user's name to spill over into the body of the post. Sometimes this is causing the name and the post to overwrite each other but in some cases the post doesn't begin until below the user id box.

Looks good so far; however, I have noticed a few issues:

1) If for a downloaded area I click the "Download All Photos" button, then while it is downloading photos, I click the home button, then re-launch the app, returning to the same area, it says all of the photos have been downloaded, but they have not been. I cannot click the "Download All Photos" button again. Even deleting the area and re-downloading it, does not allow me to.
2) When downloading areas from “Get More”, frequently (but not always) the second area fails to start downloading. Giving a failed message under the area name and saying tap to retry. Tapping never works.

Seamless so far. I wish it would sync my favorite areas as well, but bookmarks work well.

App is great so far. One thing I noticed was that I get a "Unfortunately Mountain Project has stopped" message when I try to pull up "South Arete" under Washington->North Cascades.

Same issue. But I did notice that the second area that failed to download will show up on the home screen, like if it had correctly downloaded and was added to my areas. The text saynig failed to download please tap to retry is present under the area name, but tapping it here, rather than the "get more" section does allow the area to redownload correctly and work thereafter.

When entering notes for a "tick" the keyboard window covers the text box. Need to be able to scroll the window up from behind the keyboard popular.

Not a bug, but the format of the forum posts is kind of weird. I know having the wrapped text will save some space, but it just reads awkwardly for me, especially when there are some pictures embedded in the post. I prefer reading the forum posts on the regular browser, where they appear on my phone the same as they appear on my computer's browser.

I've had the same experience. Uncheck the box, but still get the email notices. Droid X

Android 4.0.2 ICS, stock, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Verizon LTE.

Unlocked, Rooted, lots of installed apps, using Nova Launcher. I've done a few tweaks to system files, just like installing a few extra shell commands and changing a few permissions.

Here's a play-by-play with the "AndroidBuild09.apk - 3307K":

1. installed fine, from opening web link in email, downloading and opening *.apk file with installer
2. upon opening the app after install, it appeared to be unpacking some files, grand teton and a few others possibly.
3. logged in quickly without issues and synced account
4. Proceeded to simultaneously download 14 areas, totalling about 100 MB (a few big areas, and many smaller areas)
5. Jtree, red rock, and southern AZ appear to be loading, but most other areas received download errors, "tap to retry",
6. Some appeared to download, but with errors on the import: "an error occurred while accessing the datastore...", but other areas were still importing and downloading.
7. It seems that clicking the areas where download errors occurred to retry to the download worked.
8. However, still getting the 'database access errors' on a few areas. Closing out the app and restarting it seemed to fix those.
9. Wow! photo loading and scrolling is really fast and impressive, responsive. Loads high resolution quickly. Slight lag in scrolling vertically the thumbnail page (red rock: dark shadows).
10. still on dark shadows... loading comments and ticks was quite fast, scrolling was responsive, with just a few slight jumps/skips. Seems like my phone was lagging, waiting for everything to cache, but I really don't know.
11. Went to view photos on Jtree: Sail Away (24 pix), and it was a 6r x 4c thumbnail page. The top row was slightly cut off with extra space below the last row. Nothing major, but maybe an alignment issue with the thumbnails. Viewing the photos worked fine. This seems consistent across all photo thumnail pages I've viewed. It might not be that anything is getting cut off, but is exactly lining up with the upper and lower screen borders with no padding possibly.
12. Forums asks to open a web browser, I assume by design.
13. Search my areas for a route was insanely fast.
14. Bookmarked my searched route (illusion dweller), and it worked.
15. Removed grand teton area. said "deleting" for about 5 minutes. I lost patience and starting clicking things. Click my profile link and it hickupped --- navigated away form main page but reset back to it with teton still deleting. Was able to load bookmarks, but upon returning to main page, teton was no longer deleting. clicked delete on it again, clicked again on personal page, recieved android "mountain projected has stopped error" popup. Teton stopped deleting and it reset back to main page - it might have force closed, not sure if it automatically went back to my homescreen or not. Grand teton database appears to be corrupted; it wont open: "an error occurred while accessing the datastore...". And restarting app does not seem to help.
16. Tried to update Grand Teton area. It updated fine, and loads. Trying to delete it again. It's been deleting for about 5-10 minutes, that seems like it shouldn't take that long. I am thinking there is some error.
17. Deleting Jtree area: "waiting to delete...". Still deleting Grand Teton too: "deleting area...". Became impatient after another minute, closed app and reopened, still deleting them.
18. Went to app settings menu and force closed it. Still hung up on deleting those two areas.
19. Was able to access my profile, add bookmarks, view my areas, and add another one, still while these two areas appear to be deleting. Started downloading Boulder area just fine.
20. Clicked more options from main page. "calculating..." Disk usage. Decided to go away for a few minutes and let the app do its thing...
21. been away from it for about 20 minutes... 145 MB disk usage reported. Teton and Jtree still hung up on deleting. Boulder was just finishing loading routes.
22. Went into app menu to calculate storage: took a while, 10-20 min. total: 332MB, App: 4.61MB, Data: 54.01MB, USB storage data: 273MB.
23. Teton and Jtree still deleting... decided to force stop the app.
24. Teton and Jtree still deleting... don't feel like rebooting my phone, as I need it for the internet right now. Will test more later.

Maybe the problem is that I downloaded so many areas... and normally one might only download one area to save storage space and just bookmark the routes they want to do in that area for bringing out to the crag.

Cheers,
Joe

The device is set to allow installation of applications from unknown sources, the file downloads without issue, prior to installation I am prompted to allow the app to modify/delete internal storage contents, have full internet access, & read Kindle state and identity. However, when I click install I am given an "Application Not Installed" dialogue box. Thoughts? This happened with both the AndroidBuild07.apk & AndroidBuild08.apk
I have exactly the same problem on my kindle fire so its nit yours alone.

This isn't a bug, just a suggestion. Some of the areas are massive in size (Wasatch Range for instance) and contain far more areas than I currently need. This wouldn't be an issue if I could save it to my SD card, but I can't. It would be ideal if we could save to our SD card OR be able to pick a smaller area to DL (LCC instead of the whole Wasatch or BVC instead of all of RR).

Droid Razr - Verizon

Awesome!

My ideas:
1. Able to download an entire state at once
2. downloaded areas organized under states, or alphabetically. kind of a jumbled mess (although you can search)
3. GPS tells you what climbing areas are close by
4. Able to enter personal notes for a climb/area. you may have personal gear recs, secret bivy spots, etc and it would be nice to have this info archived on the phone
5. area linked to climbingweather app
6. for the partner finder. it would be cool to have a "facebook" like partner finder. in other words, you can "friend" MP users, and have a list of friends who are free to climb on a calendar-like display

Im getting "force close" a lot when switching back and forth between landscape mode and using the back button. Im on an HTC Evo 3d Android 2.3.
Also, I know that you arent doing enhancements right now, but just for future reference being able to zoom in on the pictures would be nice. Some are so far away you cant see lables on routes.

By the way, this app is incredible. Could be my favorite app yet.

Wow, a lot better than my epub area guides I have on the phone!!

ok, now for a bug report - same issue as above, couple more details:

I opened Avalon, first tier, Mists of Avalon and switched to landscape to read easier. Got to photos and selected view, then selected the first one. Switched to portrait for better view. Then when I hit the back button it hung/force closed.

Quite reproducible, seems to be changing orientation while viewing photo and then hitting 'back' from a different orientation than the one I started viewing the photo with.

New installation: Grand Teton area defaulted as one of 'mine' and downloaded automatically.

+1

Actually I would say zoom on a photo is expected! I automatically tried to zoom even though I had read the above note...duh.

+1 - on a samsung galaxy epic touch. Sometimes had to tap it a dozen times, just seemed not to respond/detect the touch on the words. Tapping up further in the text works fine, but tap on the words does not.

Still get sync error on asus prime tablet running 4.0.3.

Get this in the logs, looks like json parsing error, could be some unexpected values in my account. But it did work first on another device and i added some new favourites and ticks using the app, so could have written some bad json to the server. Will test on another device later:

mountainproject.activity.MPPersonalPageActivity$SyncTask(11650): JSON: {"ticks":[]}
