Will be based out of Klamath for ~6 months....trying to figure out where to climb up there. So far, I've got Lost Rocks, Promontory, and Footsteps nearby. Trinity Aretes, LOTL, other limestone within distance.

Any other areas up there I should check out? Any suggestions on ways to find climbing partners? Anything highly recommended, or highly not recommended? All info is appreciated...thanks in advance. If you have a super secret area you're dying to share, PM me....

Blackbeard's Tears needs to be free climbed to the top; that would be a worthy FFA project.

I'd say give Shasta Base Camp a call. They are going to be releasing an updated "Jefferson State" guide book this late spring/ summer.

Nice...thanks for the replies! Hadn't really thought about the Shasta area, not sure how far it is from Klamath/Arcata. Castle Crags definitely looks sweet though.

Isn't there some big granite up in the Trinity Alps too?

Trinity Alps has world class climbing, the reason for it not being a destination is the approaches (usually several miles), but it's all good back there, with plenty of FA's to go around.
