Wanted: Ouray Ice or Black Canyon Trad Partners

I'm in the middle of a road trippish thing and have rented a spot in Ouray for the next month. My main goal is getting proficient at ice so I've been top rope soloing in the ice park for the last few days trying to get lots of volume. I'm looking for a partner to either work with on easier leads (WI2-3) or someone to follow on routes outside the ice park (WI4+).

I can find climbing just ice to be a little monotonous so I'd also like to find a partner to trad climb with. Ideally long multipitch or adventure routes but if there is good cragging nearby that I don't know about I'm up for that too. I'd really like to try some stuff in the Black Canyon if the weather is reasonable. I've onsighted 10c, aided C2, and know the basic big wall systems. Happy to lead or follow every pitch. Not afraid of long approaches.

I have almost all the necessary gear for the above activities (little short on screws). And available 7 days a week until mid March. Not really interested in top rope or sport partners.

Hi, Jack- Please be sure to pay attention to the avalanche danger outside of the park- it is really high right now, and it would be a shame to lose you!

Jack, call me three four seven 8 zero 6 five six eight four. I'll prolly go to the park for a couple of TR solo laps in the park this afternoon - I'll have a pink shell on.

The chances of the Black being good between now and mid march are slim to none. Not that it hasn't been done, but it seems silly to add to the suffrage. Plus, online is not really the place to find partners for the Black. Good luck!

If anyone wants to climb on Sunday I would love to.

I dunno, I felt Maiden Voyage was pretty mellow. Granted, its probably the easiest climb in the canyon.

yeh i would take most anyone up maiden voyage. almost anything else, i'd want to know my partner pretty damn well cause we may find ourselves in the shit, real quick.

edited to add, ryan was most certainly being sarcastic... though we couldn't expect everyone to pick up on something so complex

Online should be a fine place to find partners for the black/big walls. Obviously you don't just chat a little on mountain project and then set off on a grade VI. I was merely looking for someone with the interest to climb there afterwards the requisite climbing partner "interview" would have taken place (face to face meeting, smaller objectives/low commitment first).

Unfortunately mountain project is just becoming filled with haters and negative-know-it-alls.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
