Decided to keep that descent a secret eh?

Make sure you know the descent or it can be trouble.
We did this back in ~77 and didn't pay enough attention and came down the Grotto (n side descent.) Rangers told us they had rescued a party from that descent a few weeks before. Double 70s might make all the difference. After rapping into space and jugging back up, we had to down climb a crappy ramp to where we made a small chockstone and left a stopper (?) Just reached the top of the ramp.

The descent (supposedly, don't know) goes of the S, SE corner.
Walk back there across the long summit platuea and pick up the trail.
Sounded much easier after we read the description.

Some friends of mine likely climbed the route just before you guys. They descended down via the grotto in a storm. They weren't really rescued by the rangers, but just borrowed a long rope from them so they could complete that last long rappel.

Nate Brown and I descended to the south, rappeling off bushes into the highest point of the saddle. Then hiked out to the east rim trailhead were we had dropped off a car.

This is an old topo drawn back in the 70's. The gear list is out dated...pre-cams.
